I don't recall the exact description in the original note, but this
suggestion won't work for network printers, only direct connect serial
printers (that statement is not entirely true, you can force it to work
with some extra extensions that come with some of the router packages, but
if you had the router, you wouldn't need to, and the only way to get the
extensions that I know of is to buy the router).
