I don't know about good virus scanners that also happen to be free, but we
have found that it is worthwhile investing in a good virus checker. The one
we use is Dr. Solomon's. The nice feature about this one is that it is
active in the background every time you run the computer, so you can
effectively forget about it. It will alert you if it detects anything
untoward.
