Craig, that I should have your problem! Sigh! One suggestion, though, is
that you take it one step back and assume your students don't know how to
use a computer correctly. Yes, I know, they all say they do, but simple
little things like not hitting the keys with force, how to use the shift,
alt, etc. keys, page up/page down, not to have food/liquid near the
machines, etc. are not always part of their education. Make sure they
understand the procedures you will use to use the Internet, what is expected
of them (can they use the computers for typing their essays, playing games
(which games?), what consequences there are for misuse). I don't mean to
sound negative, but clear information presented to all at the beginning will
save you tremendous amounts of time & be sure to post it near where the
machines are and be sure the teachers understand the instructions. Craig,
as for great information, try the IBasics course for librarians.
Fortunately, those people understand that librarians are idiots and have
presented the information simply.
