Help about Welcoming Message

I'm about as much a newbie as anyone I know.
Netcom formed a list for me. The software that takes in the basic
messages is listserv.
My list is self-esteem-self-help@netcom.com
My problem is: I have this Newbie message that I need to attach
to the welcoming message. I don't know how to do this. Netcom is no help.
But since a short, incomplete welcoming message *already* is going out
the pike, I figure there must be some simple way of attaching onto it my
Newbie message.
So, help me please:)
