Disk errors with ClarisWorks ver 2.1.3

I have been having a problem with Macintosh ClarisWorks 2.1.3 for about
a year or so. Here's the problem:

When saving either Painting or Drawing documents (using full color or
black and white projects), we receive disk errors. These errors include
the following: I/O, Not Enough Memory to Complete Operation, Type 1
error, and {the icons just does not open}. Eventually the whole disk
(and all files) start to become corrupted.

I have used Norton utilities on a number of occasion to save the files,
but have really never had any luck. I have saved maybe 10 bad files out
of 200. I know I should upgrade, but that is not an option at the
present time.

Claris has absolutely no idea what the problem is. I have sent disks to
them, but they just say it is the disk media. They also tell me to
upgrade (of course).

I have used 5 different brands of floppy diskettes. It seems that the
problems happen when using HD diskettes for some reason. When the files
are saved to the hard drive they are fine - never a problem. But, I
cannot have the students saving to the hard drive all of the time.

Has anyone had this problem, and if so, what are your remedies? Thanks
for all your help!
