Re: Studies on Student Performance

Look into the ACOT studies (Apple Classroom of Tomorrow). Done over a
period of years. Also the OTA report that came out in 1989 (i think).
That's the Office of Technology Assessment; it was part of the Governor's
Report on Education in 1991.

All of these can be found with an ERIC search using "educational
technology" as the search words. Good Luck.

We are currently using the computer with persuassion for lectures. You can
include movies etc. We are also using CEL's video history of the 20th
century, on videodisc. The controller for shot selection etc. is on the mac
also. The other thing we do is allow access to our network where the
instructor/students have access to the information resource center (infotrac,
time almanac, grolliers, encarta and infopedia). Let your imagination go!!

Your main problem is that you only have 8 megs of RAM. You're running out
of memory. You can turn on virtual memory in the memory control panel to at
least 16 mbs. just until you download the software. After that, you will
probably want to change that due to the performance hit your 5200 will
have. You'll probably need to install more RAM- especially if you intend to
do anything but word processing. (I know- more $$$)

By the way, while I'm sending a note to the group, I have Pagemaker 5.0 for
the power pc Mac with manuals and the box for anyone that wants it. I'll
sell it for $50.00 OBO (includes shipping and insurance) I bought this and
then the 6.0 upgrade came out immediatly. I was able to get in on the free
upgrade offer, but still have the old program. Let me know if anyone is
interested.
