NetDay 96 was a tremendous success at Mission High School. It was like an
"old fashioned barn raising" with help from 51 neighbors: staff,
teachers, students, alumni, AmeriCorp workers and including eight
Department of Energy engineers and technical support.
NetDay 96 was coordinated by Rich Mikulik, MHS technology team leader and
Dennis Hong, DOE engineer.

Refreshments were donated by neighborhood businesses: Noah's Bagels, Carl's
Bakery, Mueller's Deli, Anna's Danish Cookies, The Next Faye's, Peet's
Coffee and Safeway. Ladders, tools, dust masks and cable ties were lent
from two Cole Hardware Stores, Action Rental and ToolMaster Store.

With NetDay, Mission High School, the oldest comprehensive high school in
the west, has taken a giant step toward 21st century technology. Ten
classrooms on the second and third floor and the library on the fourth
floor had over 5,600 feet of wire installed. Students, who represent 35
countries and speak 25 languages are eager to "connect" with the world.

We would like to extend a special thank you to all our friends and
neighbors that made Net Day 96 succeed at Mission High School! And NetDay
"2" is coming April 26th!!!
