You might have what you need already.
Take any Apple computer (][gs or Mac) with keyboards with ADB plugs.
Instead of plugging in a mouse, plug in another keyboard. Put together a
series of these (you might want to purchase older keyboards so you aren't
taking computers out of commission), one keyboard for each two team
members.
Assign each person a different key. The first key to be pressed will show
first on the screen. You can even enter a key as the "host" when they can
"buzz in", and you will be able to tell if anyone "buzzes in" early.
