PINE Printing Problem

Greetings to all Tech'ers:

I have been experiencing difficulties in trying to print incoming e-mail
messages which students receive in response to research they are doing
for various projects.

The e-mail program we are using is PINE. The printer we are using is an
Okidata 410e.

Upon giving the "Y" print command, the following happens: data begins to
load into the printer, and then the PRINT BUFFER OVERLOAD message shows
on the printer window. After a pause, the message begins to print,
however only about a third of the page prints out. After another pause,
the next third prints out, and so on, until you end up with a really
long, messy looking printout.

The other concern is that I use Microsoft Word (Office, actually) with
this same printer. If the PINE problem can be corrected by changing
printer settings, will this then disrupt the workings of my Word? The
Word works perfectly at present and I really can't live without it!

Is there a solution that can be achieved in this situation?
Many thanks in advance.
