A small additional note...

Windows95 does have built-in support...but it is not active unless
you have loaded Dial-Up Networking. If your system folder (My Computer, if
you haven't changed the name) does not have a DUN folder in it, you need to
install DUN from your CD or floppies.

Confirming D.P. Flach's note, Eudora Pro for Windows (the commercial
version) does still support non-PPP dialup use.
