Changing documents into HTML - Great tip!

Last night I sat down to convert an article that I had written for our
local newspaper into html to put on my web site.

What I discovered was how simple it was to do using ClarisWorks 4.0. All I
had to do was use the "Save As" option under the "File" menu item, and then
select "HTML" instead of "ClarisWorks".

The document was saved in text format with all the html code needed to
display it properly as an html document.

It put <b> and </b> on both sides of text that was in bold, put <i> and
</i> or <cite> and </cite> on both sides of text that was italicized.

To be picky, it did not put in the <center> and <font size=??> tags, and
used <br><br> instead of <p> to start new paragraphs. But using BBEdit
these were simple to take care of.

This will make it a lot easier to put school newspaper articles, school
information, and other documents that are already in word processing format
in html format to put on the web.

(Yes, I do use PageMill, but like this solution a lot better. PageMill is
great for beginners to html and for getting graphics on a web site. I am
not as impressed with the way it converts text into html.)
