Subject: Be Part of Mayaquest '96.
MayaQuest started on March 4th.
The MayaQuest Interactive Expedition invites students and teachers to help
shed light on one of the greatest mysteries of all time: Why did the ancient
Maya civilization collapse? Last year, the MayaQuest Internet Center allowed
thousands of classrooms around the world to track the bicyclists, discuss the
expedition with other participants and experts, and create and use curriculum
resources.
Students from around the world interacted with the MayaQuest Team as
they journeyed through Maya sites in Belize, Mexico, Honduras, and
Guatemala.
MayaQuest '96 opens a new chapter in this ongoing expedition. The original
MayaQuest team, led by Dan and Steve Buettner, will undertake a new
journey in March and April of 1996...and you're invited to join the team!
On our World Wide Web site you'll find a wealth of resources about the
upcoming expedition including --archived material from the 1995 expedition;
late-breaking team updates and much, much more.
In addition, we've worked collaboratively with TIES in creating a new
section called MayaQuest Teacher-to-Teacher Center.
This center or "virtual teacher's lounge" is a place where teachers can
exchange ideas and curricula for the MayaQuest Project.
It can be found at http://www.informns.k12.mn.us/mayaquest
If you haven't done so already, please add your name to the MayaQuest'96
Registry by sending an e-mail to mayaquest@mecc.com. By entering our
registry (it's FREE!) you will be placed on our e-mail list for FREE
updates from the expedition and other cool stuff. Also, be sure to visit
our world-wide web site at http://www.mecc.com/mayaquest.html
Thanks again for your interest! You'll be hearing from us soon.
Until then,
PEDALS UP!
