Just had an added thought...how much RAM do you have installed on the
5200? If it is the original 8 MB, it is not enough. The system takes 4
MB to run and most CD-Roms take at least 5 MB. You need at least 12 MB
for them to work properly. Virtual memory and Ram Doubler are not
vivable solutions for many CD-Roms...they balk at using it. By the way,
if you check it out, you'll find that there is no RAM soldered on the
motherboard...it is an 8 MB chip in one of two slots. The other slot is
available for adding an additional chip. It will accept a 72 pin SIMM
in spite of what Apple may tell you if you call them. They'll probably
try to sell you a DIMM for a LOT more money.
