Downloading Files

I have downloaded a piece of software "stuffit-expander." It came with a
title "Stuffit-expander-352.bin". The document looks like a text file with a
dog-eared corner. What am I supposed to do next? I have a terminal
emulator, "Sitcomm".

I have downloaded a file from a ftp file. It is a text file. The file
came with an extension ".gz". When I opened the file, it is not
readable. It has a whole bunch of codes in it. Can anybody give me any
advice as what should be done. Thanks very much.
