Hi. My name is Tracy Moor. I am the Technology Coordinator for an
independent 5-12 girls school. I have been lurking for a month or so and
have enjoyed the lively "conversations" and helpful information I have
found here. We are initiating an exciting and frightening journey towards
implementing our six-year technology plan. Granted, we have had our bumps
and struggles along the way, but finally we have helped everyone understand
that there is a difference between EQUITY and FAIRNESS in prioritizing
technology proposals.

One of the first things we did was to establish a faculty and staff
training facililty on campus. Our two librarians (one Middle School, one
Upper School) are responsible for the integration-type training; I am
responsible for the how-to training. But, we basically all do everything.
We introduce a new topic every two weeks with two full days of training.
(We schedule 9 training classes each of those two days to coincide with the
Middle and Upper school class schedules - so teachers can come during their
free periods) Then we make ourselves available for the remainder of the two
weeks on an appointment basis. So far, we have gotten RAVE reviews from
our faculty and staff. It has taken a lot of time on our parts, but we
thinks the payoff is well worth the effort.

Okay, here are my questions: 1.Does anyone have a recommendation for a
network virus protection? We have a multi-platform environment. 2.Does
anyone have information on automated point-of-sale systems? We are opening
a bookstore adn want to be able to tie into our Business Office. They use
Blackbaud on windows systems.

Thanks,
Tracy W. Moor
