Melissa...yes, you must also have a program known as TELNET installed
on your machine and Netscape (through it's preferences) must
know that you have it. Basically TELNET is the older text-only
side of the Internet and some sites (especially the research
libraries) have much of their info in that format.
You can find TELNET (NCSA Telnet for MACs) is available at the
University of Illinois website. I use QVTnet on the PC side. Once
you install them you must go into your Netscape Program's PREFERENCES
and to the section that tells Netscape to "invoke" another program
for TELNET. You'll have to tell Netscape where to find it on your
harddisk (which folder or directory, and the name of the execution
file in side of the folder or directory).
Once you do this you'll be able to use your Netscape Browser for
Telnetting.
