Try using Apple HD SC setup (from the Disk Tools disk/folder) and selecting
"update" if it can see your hard drive - I think this just updates the
driver without changing anything else. Then you should be able to mount the
hard drive long enough to do a clean system install or snag the files off
your drive. Your PLI software might also do this but I've had much success
with Apple HD SC...
