1. Upgrade your ram. Need at least 16MB on the Mac side. Preferably the
same minimum for the DOS/Windows side.
2. We had problems with shared ram and non-composite SIMMs. The university
bookstore tells me they overcame most of these problems by adding
"compsite SIMMs" for the DOS/Windows side. Something to consider.
3. Our experience: professors don't care for emulation of either the Mac or
IBM platforms. Mac users prefer Macs and IBM users prefer IBM/clones.
Again, correct set-up and support are important. Cross training is vital.
4. If you are using these computers with LCD panels or projectors, there
are potential compatibility problems. We have found that the
video distribution amp, the monitor and the projector input
must be the same platform (VGA or Mac) regardless of the CPU
platform...there are problems switching back and forth from Mac-VGA-Mac, etc..
Manufacturers and vendors seem to be at a loss...trial and error are likely.
5. Consider your software needs carefully, too.
Good luck!
