Can't see MAC HardDrive

They say that you need to learn something new everyday! Well I certainly have
the opportunity for that today!

We have a 6100/60AV machine here at school. It has FoolProof, and
Undercover security software on it, and system 7.5. Today when it starts-up
(or tries to) it never finishes starting. Just when you think it is finished
with start-up, the Menu bar flashes and you can hear the harddrive looking for
something again. Then the menu comes back, then flashes off, etc. Eventually,
20 min or more, you get the error message 41 which is "can't load finder".

I can start the machine from System CD, but the harddrive doesn't show on the
desktop. I can start Norton disk doctor from floppy with the CD as the system,
but it doesn't see the harddrive either. I have a another formatter, from PLI,
that can that can see the hardrive on the SCSI but I don't want to format it
I want to just fix the finder, or at least try to recover some of the stuff on
the drive.

Any Ideas?
