Appletalk Imagewriter Driver

Does anyone know if there is a way of doing background printing with
Appletalked Imagewriter IIs? I have an PhoneNet LAN using PPC 5200LCs, a
Laserwriter and 3 Imagewriters. Printing works fine except the inability
to do backgrounding on the Imagewriters.
