Regarding the Bobbi Kerlin post on the surreptitious installation of a
surveillance camera in the lab where she teaches: Seems a little
foolish to not notify the people using the facilities of the
installation of the camera, but then no one informed me when cameras
were installed where I work (in a large district MIS facility). Such
cameras are, in fact, rather common in the computer professional's
environment, including in training rooms, and certainly in office
cubicles and other work areas. Is there network or Internet access
from the machines in that room? That might be a factor, because as
technology gives wheels and wings to the mind, it does the same for
criminal minds as well. I would expect, and in some sense welcome,
more rather than less such artifacts. You mean to say you don't have
badge locks on the doors?
