HTML => Word

I'm replying to the list as I think this may be of general interest.

Microsoft has released a product called Internet Assistant for Word,
available in both Windows 3.1x and Win95 formats. I would think it
would be available for Mac too (since Word is), but I haven't actually
seen it.

One of the chief advantages of this product is its ability to load HTML
files with ALL their HTML 2 tags recognized, edit them is WYSIWYG format,
save them as HTML documents (or any other format supported by Word; your
choice), print them with HTML tags in effect, i.e. boldface, centered
text is printed in boldface and centered, rather than at the left margin
surrounded by <B><CENTER></CENTER></B> and so on. The resultant HTML
documents can be FTP'd to your WebSite, where users can view them in
their browser OR download them and load them into Word (in the Internet
Assistant environment) with the full flexibility you had in creating them.

Another major advantage is that anybody who knows how to use Word can use
the same skills to create new HTML documents OR to translate pre-existing
Word documents into HTML format -- even with hyperlinks!

I know this sounds a bit like a commercial for Microsoft, but I am
really sold on this product for Web authoring by your average user.
Web gurus can certainly find better HTML editors, but Internet
Assistant really takes the cake for combining fairly good WYSIWYG
editing with ease-of-use using pre-existing skill sets.

(The above opinions are mine alone, and are not intended to represent
an endorsement of any product by the United States Government, US Army,
or any subordinate command.)

For those who want to check it out for themselves, Internet Assistant
is available FREE to licensed Word users at:
