TO: All Concerned about Education's commitment to our gifted and talented
Students...

The following is flyer text prepared and distributed by an independent group
of parents whose children are enrolled in the K-6 Extended Enrichment
Program (EEP) under the Carroll County Board of Education, a public school
system in Maryland, USA.

Since one of our core organizational values is to promote Information
Technology in education, MD.NET is sponsoring this Internet posting of their
solicitation as a method of discovering similar sentiment in other locales,
perhaps resulting in the formation of a shared advocacy effort with broader
reach and increased leverage.

Please direct your responses and questions to me, and I will present them
verbatim at the meeting this Thursday. You are also invited to attend the
meeting if travel time is not prohibitive.

Dear Parents:

Are you concerned that funding for the EEP program may be reduced or
eliminated from the Carroll County school budget?

Do you feel your child's educational development is being stifled by
inadequate programs for the gifted and talented?

Is you child bored/unchallenged by the existing curriculum?

Are you unsure whether the present school system meets the educational needs
of your child?

Do you know that two years ago a long-range plan was formulated by a group
of teachers and parents for the Extended Enrichment Program and remains on
hold pending funding availability?

If you answered yes to any of the first four questions and/or are interested
in finding out more about the last question, join us on Thursday, March 7th,
at 7:00 p.m. in Spring Garden Elementary's Media Center to initiate the
formation of a Parent Advocacy group for EEP students.
