I am responsible for Macintosh technical support for the Reading Success for
Kids CD-ROM series. I will offer my 2 cents on the type 11 error.

Apple Error codes are extremely ambiguous. This is my understanding of the
dreaded type 11 error.

A Type 11 error is a bus error which I believe means that your computer is
having some difficulty moving data around. It could be anything. Your SCSI
connection, your mother board, your ram, your hard drive etc.

75% of the technical support callers that report a type 11 error to Pixel
Genius are on the LC5200. I am able to solve their problems by making sure
that our application does not try to use more ram than the largest unused
block on their computer.

My fix
1. Go to "About this Macintosh" under the apple menu.
2. Find out the size the largest unused block of memory. Typically it is
about 4,000 kilobytes.
3. Go to the application that caused the error. Click once so that it turns
black.
4. Go to the file menu and choose "Get Info"
5. Change the preferred memory size for the application
the new size should be about 300 kilobytes less than your largest unused
block.
Voila I hope.

In my opinion the error is caused by the Mac O/S. The amount of ram the O/S
needs fluctuates. So if all of the ram is used up and the O/S needs more it
will cause a type 11 error.

Good luck
