I bought a 4 mb simm for a 520 PowerBook laptop to bring a 4 mb computer
up to 8 mb-- it has 4 mb of ram already on the logic board. I installed one
of the simms but the computer doesn't recognize the new, added memory. I
tried another simm, just in case the first one was bad, but I got the same
result. I'm guessing that I don't have two bad simms, but that I'm instead
not doing something right. Installation seems pretty straightforward on
these: lift out the keyboard, expose the logic board, put the simm into its
slot, screw the top back on the logic board case, screw the keyboard back
on.
Am I missing something? Is there some switch I'm supposed to turn on, wire
I'm supposed to clip, or software I'm supposed to config to tell the
computer to recognize the added memory? I did make sure I had the simm all
the way down into its slot. Thanks.
