According to the requirements which came with my new Adobe Photoshop, the
minimum requirements for a 68040 processor machine is 6 megabytes of free
RAM and is 11 megabytes for a Power Macintosh. However, with 12 megabytes
free (running only the system folder and Adobe Photoshop on my Power Mac
which has 16 megabytes of RAM installed) I keep getting low memory
messages. Knowing that even System 7.1 takes up more than 2 megabytes of
RAM on a 68040 processor to run, I don't think 8 megabytes of RAM are
enough.
Right now I am using Virtual Memory on my Power Macintosh to run Adobe
Photoshop, which decreases the RAM requirements by half. It really slows
the program down and I have plans to increase the RAM in my machine this
summer.
