Re: Is there a way to STRIP HTML when saving a file

This is an interesting topic...

If you're using Netscape, there's an easy way to do this by chosing SAVE
AS..txt in the SAVE dialog box. I've been doing this for quite a while...

But I'm troubled by any method that destroys information...what if I later
decide I want to follow the links?? I can go back to the original page, if
I can find it (the page address is not saved with the text).

Thus I've become convinced it's preferable to save the original document as
html, as you are now doing, and use an "aftermarket" product to strip the
html code from it. I'm sure these programs exist, and you'll be receiving
references on them from the list. But I begin to wonder when it would be
necessary to do this stripping...the html files can be viewed as local files
via Netscape or other more resource-frugal browsers such as I-View. The
files will also print beautifully and quickly directly from Netscape. The
only time I can imagine needing to do this is if you wanted to include or
embed a html doc in a word processing document via OLE....I'm confident
there must be a Winword macro available for this.
