I think it would be benificial to teach 1st graders about computers (if
you are not already). BUT to teach them how to type at the Kindergaten
level, I think that's a bit much. I'd rather see this time spending
on using the computer as a educational tool, teaching them spelling and
reading and such, than keyboarding. I think you need to learn how to
spell before you teach proper typing.. and correct me if I am wrong, BUT
keyboards were created for adults hands, not a child's. This would create
more errors because their hands would be slipping on the keys.

This is ashame. Apple IIe's are great for smaller kids. They don't need
the heavy graphics and power. K-3 kids need to learn the basics of
computers and the AppleIIe did fine. I learned all I needed to know at
teh 1st grade level on a AppleIIe and I was more than happy with it. AND
some of the best programs were written for the AppleIIe, and now msot of
them are public domain so it's cheaper for the schools. Save the Macs and
the IBMS for older students who can really use the capablities of them.
