As a U.S. History teacher, I too, agree there should be both integration
and teaching of computer skills. At the beginning of the school year
students will be instructed on the basics of computers and the programs we
will be using. Students will be expected to have a certain level of
proficiency before they begin their projects to minimize "fix-it"
situations. Many of my students last year said they learned a lot more
about computers than in their seventh grade computer class. I don't profess
to be a better than the computer teacher, but the key to the excitement in
the classroom was having a purpose and a final product.
