Re: Homeschooling on the Net

There are numerous resources for homeschoolers online -- including new
online academies using the web for distance education. Calvert is one
school that comes to mind -- it has been serving homeschoolers for years and
is now beginning to incorporate technology as a means of "corresponding."
Eagle Academy, a new startup that promises a student Moo, is another I came
across.

In my searches on the topic of home schooling, I found that resources were
split -- about half were clearly designed for the Christian-based market and
the other half for a more secular audience. One website I found
particularly helpful is Jon's Homeschooling Web Page
(http://www.midnightbeach.com/hs/). Great links....

The two newsgroups I began with are:
misc.education.home-school.misc
misc.education.home-school.christian
Both contain interesting discussions not just about pedagogy, but also on
practical experience.

Good luck, and if I can be of any help, please send a line.
