Although I would certainly evaluate each institution on its iown
merits, you also might want to consider what you r employment goals
are. It may be true that a terminal degree from an institution
similar to the type of institution in which you are interested in
working would be a good idea. For instance, a large, state supported,
research institution might not have a lot of respect for a ternimal
degree from a small, private, church-related institution. However, if
you are interested in working at a small, denominational school, a
terninal degree from a school related to the denomination might be a
good idea.
