CALL FOR PARTICIPATION!
Please forward far and wide!

S.T.A.R. Search 1996

Are you a student, teacher or administrator whose life and study has
been impacted by the Internet? Have you put together that fantastic,
one-of-a-kind Internet project that makes you the Internet STAR for your
school? Are you an exceptional teacher who has worked hard to integrate
the Internet into your school or classroom? A student leader who has
worked to produce an exceptional Web site or other Internet projects at
school?

The STAR (Students and Teachers Achieving Recognition) Society is a
group of distinguished students and educators who are bringing the
Internet to life in local schools. We are looking for the second class of
inductees into this prestigious organization so that we may honor and
enroll them as part of the Connected Classroom Conference at the
Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California, on November 8, 1996.

Great prizes are awaiting the best STAR Nominees. Top prize is an
Apple computer system. Also, there are great software bundles, Internet
resources, Internet service and other fun gifts for the "Best of the
Best." Register now!

To be selected as a STAR, you must complete a nomination form and
return it with a 500-word essay on "Why I Love the Internet." Also,
attach copies of information about Internet projects in which you have
been involved, or include disks of media projects you have created with
Web resources, or identify URLs of sites that you may have participated
in creating. Each entry requires a photograph (photo or file on disk) in
a sealed envelope in case you are selected as a recipient. Send your
nomination information, your essay, and any support information to Scott
Noon, Connected Classroom Conference, 1866 Colonial Village Lane, PO Box
10488, Lancaster, PA 17605-0488. E-mail submissions may be sent to
snoon@classroom.net.

Nomination forms may be obtained by calling Classroom Connect at
(800) 638-1639. Request that a STAR Search Nomination Form be mailed or
faxed to you.

STAR submissions will be considered for display at the Conference
Showcase. Teachers and students will be invited to display their projects
as well as give honored presentations at the Connected Classroom
Conference. In addition, there will be a number of prizes for the winners
including one Macintosh Computer system, an array of software, Classroom
Connect products, Internet service, registrations to the conference and
much much more.

The deadline for entries is September 15, 1996 and winners will be
announced on October 1, 1996. Ideally, winners should be present at the
Awards Banquet on November 8, 1996 for induction into the STAR Society.
The banquet features Dan Buettner, leader of the MayaQuest online
expedition. The Gala Banquet is sponsored by MECC.
