Why not post the actual $ range, Charles? Why do you need a Ph.D.?
Is it because you base pay on a tenure track position?

In Minnesota, we test for positions. Our department turned over and
replaced two Ph.D.s with highly skilled high school graduates, each
of whom tested in the top three percentile - higher than _any_ of
those with graduate degrees.
