Technology planning questions

Greetings all,

I am currently working with a local high school in upgrading the
technology in their science lab. They have some money to spend and would
like to buy some computers for their physics lab. There are barely any
computers in the building, if you can believe that, so Mac or PC is
purely up to me. Can anyone give any suggestions as to whether they
prefer Mac or PC in high school science? Also, I only need to buy 6
student workstations and one teacher station. The question is whether to
go with a "stand alone" workstation for the teacher, or buy a server and
do an ethernet network instead of local talk (if I go with Mac).If anyone
has any suggestions or preferences regarding hardware for high school
please let me know. I am not that familiar with the science software
available for physics or chemistry, but I assume it can be purchased in
either platform. I am leaning
towards Mac, and an ethernet network with a server for the teacher.
Thanks in advance for any help.
