PPP connections and HyperCard

I use a Mac Quadra 660AV (24 ram), Geoport, and FreePPP 2.5. I find that
whenever I have used HyperCard, I can't get FreePPP to open a connection
without rebooting first. Once I reboot, FreePPP opens a connection as
usual. Anyone know what's going on? Is there a solution?
