It may be as simple as the message says. You may have an alias still on the
hard drive, but the original it links to has been trashed. Check out your
aliases (click on each one once to highlight it, choose "get info" under
the file menu option, and then "find original".

There are some public domain programs called something like "alias killer"
that will deltete all aliases that are no longer linked to applications.
Check the Apple utility sites or do a search.
