An EdD or masters does not have to generate new research. You may be adding
to a body of knowledge by supporting a similar assumption. By definition a
paradigm shift is when research builds up and people take notice and decide
to adopt the concept or theme-Kuhn. If I am to support the assumption that
technology helps students gain, retain and transfer information better then
books, I need lots of research to prove this not just one study.

Yes-I agree that a good researcher must conduct a preliminary review of the
literature before under taking a project.

By the way I need a dissertation topic too-anyone have an idea related to
education policy and instructional technology? Cost benefit? Access and
equity? Professioanl development? Standards and the filed of education
technology? Help!
