Good morning, Helen,

You have been unemployed for 11 years --to employers the reason why does not
matter. (I have "been there, done that".) You may be foreced to accept a
position that you believe is "beneath" your qualifications and experience.
Once you are in the position, you can "prove" you value and move to more
responsible positions. The key here is to accept a position with a company
that has higher level positions into which you can move. If you do accept a
"lower level" position, be sure to ask the employer about other higher level
positions with the company -- how many level "x" do they have, how long have
the current employees been in their positions, their ages, etc. Ask if there
are any plans for future growth in your area. Given this information you
should be able to evalutate your chance for future mobility. Good luck!
