Netware 4.1 File Server size - Some issues to consider:

1. General Hardware
- Pentium 120MHz processor
We have had some problems with Pentium workstations on a server
with only a DX4-100 processor
- Novell certified motherboards
We had problems with certain "chipsets" on motherboards causing
network malfunctions
- Network interface cards(NICs) must be very good quality. 3COM
cards have worked very well in our environment.
- Hard Drive size - 2GB with matching tape backup
- One file server should handle your anticipated user configuration

2. Server Memnory
- 32MB minimum for your potential user base
Netware 4.1 Directory Services(NDS) is large and resides in memory
thus considerable resources are consumed. But, NDS is a
great improvement over 3.1x resource services.

3. Good text resource
- Using Netware 4.1 by QUE Corp. is an indispensable reference for
building and managing the Netware network.

4. Good on-line resource
- Make use of Novell's presence on the Web and visit their technical
support site: http://netwire.novell.com/

If anyone else has helpful information or suggestions on using Netware 4.1,
please respond. I would like to see a support group communicating on
Netware 4.1 issues.
