Gradebook software

I am looking for a computer program that would be useful to University faculty
managing grades for large classes. It should be able to merge information
from a roster file with scores for exams, quizzes, papers, labs, etc.
Some of these scores come from fixed format files, while other will have
be hand-entered directly in to the "gradebook".

The program should be flexible in how all these scores can be combined
into a weighted average, and how final letter grades are to be assigned
based on the weighted average. It should provide a variety of useful
reports, summary statistics, etc., including reports that do not list the
students' names, so they can be posted. It should also do appropriate
error checking and report any discrepencies between the roster and
information coming from a file (i.e. not accept scores for students that
are not on the roster).

If you use such a program, or know of one, I would appreciate any references
you can give me; the name of the program and the contact person/organization
for getting further information or an evaluation copy.
If you care to make any comments on how you use the program and how well
it works for you, that would be very helpful.

Thank you,
