The EDINEB Network

At the December 1993 EDINEB Conference (Maastricht, the Netherlands) the
EDINEB Network was founded to serve as a continual basis for exchanging
experiences and knowledge about educational innovation in economics and
business. Among the activities of this Network are workshops, consultancies,
publications, international conferences, and other forms of exchange.
Workshops targeted at enhancing specific skills in redesigning educational
platforms have been organized at the University of Maastricht (1994, 1995)
and Ohio University, Athens, USA (1995). Network members have served both
education and industry in the development of innovative practices across
Europe and the United States. Following the first international conference,
a seminal work was published on the case of problem-based learning. This book
Educational Innovation in Economics and Business Administration: the Case of
Problem-Based Learning, edited by Gijselaers and others, is available through
Kluwer Academic Publishers. The second international conference provided the
impetus for a compilation of articles on educational quality to be published
this year.

Following earlier successes in Maastricht (the Netherlands) and Uppsala
(Sweden), the present conference aims to widen the scope of the EDINEB
Network on the American continents. The conference site of Orlando was chosen
because of its easy access from most places in the world. It is also one of
the most popular conference sites in the United States at this time. The
conference hotel, the Hyatt Regency, has been called "the hotel of tomorrow
with state-of-the-art comforts and amenities for the business of today." For
post-conference activities, participants will find the hotel conveniently
near such area attractions as Walt Disney World Theme Parks, the Kennedy
Space Center, Universal Studios, Sea World, and Church Street Station in
downtown Orlando.
