Sounds like corrupted desktop files to me. Did you try rebuilding the
desktop? Sometimes, when they are particularly corrupted, it is necessary
to use one of the utilities to delete them completely. I make them visible
with ResEdit and trash them, then rebuild.

I've been using it since it came out. No problems whatsoever on a 6100
PowerMac as well as a Quadra 610.
