Are you upgrading or buying your first Mac? If you are upgrading and
already have a monitor, keyboard, software etc, look at the 7200/90 or the
7500/100. Both push the envelope of your price range, but both offer
upgradability and above average processing power (the www has lots of
images and needs the extra power). If you are purchasing your first Mac,
look into the higher end Performas since they usually come as complete
systems with the bundled software you need to get started. Although I
don't know much about their prices, you should also look at the Power
Computing entry-level Macs which also offer extensive software bundles and
many hardware options.

I would recommend not getting a Mac with the 68040 processor. Go with the
PowerMacs, required for Copland, the future Mac OS upgrade.

Finally, look at the February MacWorld cover article "Your Ideal Mac."

Good luck, and keep the Mac faith!
