Clarisworks problem

We are experiencing a strange problem with Clarisworks in one of our labs. We
are running version 4.0 on Mac Power PC 6100s. Just recently many of the
machines started saving files as generic documents. Claris could then not
open the files except as text. The problem is not consistent either.
Sometimes it saves properly and other times it doesn't. Has anyone had this
problem or know how to solve it?
