I am looking for some information on connecting school(1500 students) and
community(3700 residents) resources technologically. Our school district
is planning for a building/technology referendum this fall. As part of the
planning my superintendent has organized a group of school and community
leaders to discuss ways in which we could link the school system with the
community and share or integrate resources. Why would you want to do this
- advantages/disadvantages? What community resources might one share -
hospital, city hall, local businesses/industries, chamber of commerce - why
and how? I am interested in any feedback especially if you have had any
personal experiences with something like this. More specifically I would
like to know of any communities that might be using this approach and a
contact where I could get more info from that community. The bottom line
is that my superintendent's vision is to make available technology access
to all citizens of the community at a reasonable and affordable cost. Is
it realistic for the school system to facilitate/coordinate such a venture?
TIA for any input you can provide.
