In my 13th year of teaching, I am on the last year of my final temporary
teaching certificate from the state of Michigan. The last time I renewed
the certificate, 3 years ago, I was told to receive my permanent certificate
(and become a real teacher ;-) ), I must take 5 credits in the teaching of
reading. My first hope is to find courses that will suffice via the
internet, or e-mail. I will need to complete these courses to renew the
certificate in June of 96. If I can't do that, then, it seems, this
summer's activities are planned for me.
Does anyone know where I can begin to look? (My master's is through
Michigan State University, my undergrad degree from Western Michigan
University.)
I'm sure this note raises more questions than it answers. I'd like
internet or e-mail address of a place to start? Also, what about an e-mail
address for the state of Michigan's teacher certification (are they on-line
yet?) I'm sure I'd need to clear it with them first and e-mail speeds up
the process immensely when one is overseas (a fax number and name would
also do nicely)
BTW - I've already tried the University of Maryland e-mail program - their
response? This is a very new program, have nothing like that, can't help
you with any other e-mail addresses, sorry.
(Yes, I need a valid teaching certificate to teach at this and most other
overseas international schools)
Thanks in advance for your help
