Read the fine print

I have learned a lesson the hard way and wish to help others avoid the same
mistake. I signed a contract in 1993 for access to AccuWeather, a commercial
weather info service provider. We used the service for one year and did not
use all of the time we contracted for. I was allowed (against the rules it
appears) to carry that time over. We used the remaining time during the 94-95
school year.

Imagine my surprise when we were billed this August for service for the 95-96
year! In very fine print on the back was a statement that unless they
received notice at least 120 days before the contract ended it would
automatically be extended with an 8% increase. We are on the hook for almost
$500 for a service we don't even need.

So, I am no longer signing contracts - I send them to the business manager.
Hope I can save even one person from the same mistake.
