Bonnie,
Attaching all the computers in your lab with ethernet is the easy part. If
you use thin-net (10base2) you won't need to buy hubs, but I would suggest
a repeater just to separate some of the segments. You'll need to buy cards
for the LC520's and transeivers for the others. A word of caution: we have
been having some bad luck with Focus hubs and transeivers. You might want
to try Alide Telysin - reasonable price. Twisted pair (10BaseT) is the best
way to go in a media center since it gives you more flexibility. The trade
off is you need a port for each computer.
The CD werver works well but don't expect its performance over any network
to be like a standalone CD player. Many people expect that and are
disappointed. Towers work best with text based materials. Multimedia should
be run on individual machines whenever possible. Apple suggest 8 mb of ram
for every service you run on a server. So even if you bought a server and
did Appleshare, you really should up the RAM just for the CD's. The tower
is still the best bargin. Any extra CD's could be run in individual
machines.
Yes, I think its possible - and not that difficult.
Good Luck
