It sounds as if the hard drive is in trouble. Worst case is ordering a new
hard drive and reinstalling software. Check out http://www.apstech.com for
cheap refurbished hard drives. Or MicroWarehouse for new drives
http://www.warehouse.com/
Before doing this, open up the case and try to jar the hard drive. bang on
it lightly. It may be stuck and won't spin up. If this is the case, back up
any files you need and still consider a new hard drive.
