Software Information Needed - Linking PC's

I have been asked to find software that would allow one of
our users at work who has a stand alone system to dial in
from home and access her hard drive. She operates a PC
which is equipped with a modem. I would appreciate any
information for anyone who has such a set-up. I have heard
of different software, but would appreciate hearing personal
views and recommendations.
